Advanced Search
Advanced Search
allows you to further refine your search criteria to include specific templates, categories, attributes, or other specifics based on the search capabilities of the database. To access the Advanced Search, go to the Search
tab in the editor panel.

Search Based on Database
The Advanced Search
dialog reflects the search criteria of the data source. Therefore, the search will look different depending on which data source is being accessed. The above example is for a PI historian.
When you have entered all the search data, press "Search". The results will be shown below as well as duplicated in the side-menu. Close the dialog and start working with the component.
50 results will be returned by default. You can increase the number of results returned by updating the drop down at the base of the dialog box.
For all source systems, you can enable the following two items:
- Search Hierarchy
- Load attributes
Search Hierarchy
When the Search Hierarchy
is enabled (highlighted), you can access all levels of your systems hierarchy. When the Search Hierarchy
is disabled (not highlighted), you can only access the top level of the hierarchy (parent).
The example below shows how you can only find a nested asset as a returned top-level search result by enabling the Search Hierarchy
.

Load Attributes
When the Load Attributes
is enabled (highlighted), you can access all the attributes for a particular asset. When the Load Attributes
is disabled (not highlighted), you can only access the assets.
The example below shows how to use the Load Attributes
button.
