Migrate from PI Vision
IOTA VUE provides automated bulk migration of PI Vision displays. The migration preserves the same core interaction — drag-and-drop experience, navigation, display hierarchy — while adding significantly extended flexibility.
Migration Steps
- Choose source — PI Vision displays exported as files, or direct connection to PI Vision via the PI Vision API
- Select displays — Browse and select displays to migrate
- Configure data mapping (optional) — Map data bindings from source PI System to destination data source (Cognite Data Fusion, Aspen Inmation, CONNECT data services, or PI System). Regex-based mapping logic is supported.
- Choose destination — Export to file or direct connection to IOTA VUE
- Run the bulk migration

Custom PI Vision Symbols
PI Vision custom symbols can be migrated using two approaches:
- Option 1: Map to an equivalent IOTA component from the standard library or a custom component library
- Option 2: Convert to an IOTA Custom HTML Component
Prerequisites
General Requirements:
- Windows OS (Windows Server 2012+ recommended)
- .NET Framework 4.7.2
- AF SDK (AF Client) 2.10.6.195+
- Read access to PI Server (Data Archive and Asset Framework) for validating data references
- Deployed IOTA VUE with IOTA driver for destination system
- Time series data and data model available on the destination system
Optional — Direct PI Vision Connection (via PI Vision API):
- User must be authorized as a Utility User or Administrator in PI Vision
- PI Vision 2021 or later required
Optional — Direct Publication to IOTA VUE:
- Enable two-way data traffic (TLS encrypted) on port 443 for NATS message bus communication
IOTA VUE also supports live rendering of PI Vision displays as a transitional step during migration.
