Viewer Guide

Welcome to IOTA Vue. IOTA Vue is a web application for monitoring and investigating your industrial data — there is nothing to install. This guide is for viewers: operators, engineers, and other end users who open displays to understand what is happening in their process.

As a viewer, you can:

• Navigate the dashboards and displays your team has built
• Explore live and historical data with time controls and tooltips
• Build ad hoc trends to compare signals, find data, and investigate events
• Save and share trends, and export data to CSV
• Personalize your experience and run displays in control rooms

You do not need to build anything to get value from IOTA Vue — everything in this guide works with displays your team has already created.

Getting Started as a Viewer

To get started with IOTA Vue, all you need is a web browser. There is nothing to install — just navigate to your IOTA Vue instance URL and sign in.

Work through the topics below in order to build a complete understanding of the Viewer experience:

1. Viewer Workspace — Learn the side pane, navigation, top menu bar, and how to move between views.
2. Exploring Data on a View — Use the time control, read exact values with tooltips, and open ad hoc trends.
3. Trending Data — Investigate and compare signals in ad hoc trends. This section covers:
   • Finding Data to Trend — locate signals from the screen or by searching across your instance.
   • Building a Trend — get signals into a trend and set the time range.
   • Customizing a Trend — trace color, plot type, scales, and visualizing states.
   • Analyzing a Trend — read values with cursors, zoom into events, highlight out-of-spec areas, and add regression and limit lines.
   • Saving Ad Hoc Trends — save a trend so you can return to it later.
   • Sharing Ad Hoc Trends — share a saved trend with others or send a link.
   • Data Export — export trend or component data to CSV for offline analysis.
4. User Profile & Preferences — Personalize your theme, component style, selection color, and presentation-mode toolbar.
5. Decision Support in Control Rooms — Use presentation mode for large screens and control rooms, and embed IOTA in other applications.
6. Troubleshooting & Notifications — Understand the notification bell, enable system alerts, and resolve common issues.
7. Go to Seeq — Right-click any item on a display to open it directly in Seeq with signals and time range pre-loaded.
